Facts and Myths of Global Warming
There are many arguments on both sides of global warming issue. Both sides use facts and figures, and in some cases they use the same figures with a different interpretation. In some cases projected models turned out to be completely wrong. The example is Al Gore's claim that by 2013 all polar ice will be gone, which turned out to be completely wrong and north polar ice cap grew by 60%.

NASANASA has an extensive website on climate change and global warming issue (climate.nasa.gov). On their website they collect and present scientific data proving global warming is a man-made phenomena. They are the main source of data collection on climate since they own and control almost all monitoring instruments. The data they collect and present is used by both sides of the global warming argument.

30 Myths vs. Facts on Global WarmingWhile colder winters continue to rise in the U.S., many aren’t sure which factors to attribute such extreme weather and freezing temperatures to. The question might be posed, how can it be global warming when it snowed in places like Phoenix and Las Vegas last year? The truth is, global warming doesn’t just mean the earth is supposed to turn into an all-out fireball. To the skeptics, however, the persistent weather and climate changes are dismissed as pure happenstance. Is global warming even real? Here are 30 global warming myths vs facts to separate science from conspiracy.

Smithsonian InstituteThe Smithsonian Institution, established in 1846 "for the increase and diffusion of knowledge," is a group of museums and research centers administered by the Government of the United States. Originally organized as the "United States National Museum," that name ceased to exist as an administrative entity in 1967. Termed "the nation's attic" for its eclectic holdings of 138 million items, the Institution's nineteen museums, nine research centers, and zoo include historical and architectural landmarks.
The bold assessment acknowledges that the global climate is warming because of human activities. |
Myths vs. Facts: Global WarmingMyths vs. Facts in Global Warming: This news and analysis section addresses substance of arguments such as "global warming is a hoax", "global warming is a fiction", "global warming is created to make money for Al Gore". The main fallacy noted is that most arguments are facts out of context while others are simply false representations. When the facts pertaining to the arguments are viewed in context relevance becomes obvious. The data clearly indicates global warming is happening and is human caused. At this time in the natural cycle Earth should be slightly cooling on trend, leading into what would have been the next ice age. Instead Earth is warming. There is no valid evidence that can prove otherwise. False representations or facts out of context are not a proof of any kind, they are merely incorrect.

Lord Christopher MoncktonMonckton advocates for climate change denial. He says a greenhouse effect exists, and that carbon dioxide contributes to it, but claims there is no "causative link" from CO2-concentration to global average temperature. He said the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change underestimated the costs of climate change mitigation and overstated its benefits.
Monckton's opinions conflict with the scientific opinion on climate change, where there is overwhelming consensus for anthropogenic global warming, and show a decisive link between carbon dioxide concentration and global average temperatures. |
